The Current Affairs Group was set up in 2016, and our aim is to discuss issues and events in the world around us, to inform ourselves, and to share our views in a friendly social setting.
The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 2:30pm for 2 hours in member’s homes on a rolling basis.
Informality is the keynote: we do not take minutes or attempt to draw firm conclusions. Members are encouraged to identify topics and bring their suggestions and ideas to the meetings, where we discuss as many topics as time allows. Among the many topics we have discussed are policing, poverty, taxation, healthcare, sport, politics, local policies, Europe, energy. Indeed we explore anything of current interest, both national and international, immediate and longer-term.
