We meet in members’ houses on the first Thursday of every month. A lively discussion is followed by tea and biscuits and sometimes even home-made cake! Members also discuss other books they have read and films and plays they have seen recently.
In the last year, we have read a variety of books, including the Tattooist of Auschwitz, was featured on recently on Sky Atlantic in a six part series; The Boy Made of Blocks, which describes a father came to communicate with his autistic son through the medium of Lego and The Gustav Sonata set in Switzerland in the Second World War, showing that tiny flaws of temperament can lead to tragedy. This book received the highest marks.
