3E London, (the 3E standing for Explore, Experience and Enjoy) is a group which visits London once a month, focussing on a particular area and exploring, experiencing and enjoying anything old, new, fascinating, beautiful, cultural, seasonal, or quirky in the chosen area. We use the train, London buses and our feet but never the tube to get there and get around. We usually travel to Waterloo or Victoria mainline stations but also use the wonderful Overground to get to places like Hampstead and Surrey Quays. We have used innumerable buses and contrary to what most people think London buses are frequent and punctual most of the time and give excellent city views when on the top deck.

We have bitten off most areas of London, the South Bank, City, Spitalfields, Whitechapel, Farringdon, Chelsea, Kensington, Hyde Park, Covent Garden, Bloomsbury and more further afield and still eager to try new places and to revisit areas. We have seen and learnt a lot about London’s architecture, history, culture, and enjoyed art in all forms and the surprising tranquillity you find in parks, squares, and along canals.

Walks are geared to the time of the year for example lazy walks and picnics in the big parks in summer, longer brisker walks in the autumn and spring and as much as possible indoors in museums and exhibitions in the winter. We stop for coffee and for lunch, trying to find interesting or cultural venues which seat a group of 10-15 (not easy). Some of the favourites have been a coffee stand outside a Wren church, a Moroccan cake shop, a Lebanese restaurant, and Cafe 101 the Salvation Army’s modern cafe near the Millennium Bridge.

If you are keen to become a committed member of this group please contact Kathy. Please note that I am a brisk walker, if that's what you like this is the group for you, however we do make sure we stop and enjoy the wonderful views.
