We walk
on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month, all year round, meeting at
9.45am at the recreation ground car park in Lower Road, Great Bookham.
From there we head out by car to the starting point for our walk
(sharing cars where appropriate).
We are a very friendly group,
the walks are not too demanding (up to 7km -usually 5-8km), and we try
to find points of historical or archaeological etc. interest en route.
We always finish at a pub for lunch. We find walk leaders from within
our ranks, and any offers to lead are always welcome. With a large
“catalogue” of walks we rarely do the same one twice in any year. We
would not walk in really adverse conditions, but for some reason known
only to the Clerk of Weather, the 2nd and 4th Fridays seem to be blessed
with fine weather.
The Group has in theory over 30 members, but
on average between 12 and 18 turn up on any one walk, not always the
same ones, so we have not felt it necessary to set a limit on numbers.
